You will need to get a few different size perches for you cage, such as rope perches pedicure perches, one of my cages opens similar to yours which I thought was great at first but it becomes a pain as you have to put it on and off everyday when they wake up and go to bed as you don't want to leave it open all the time, so I just took the perch out and keep it closed and yes you should put some toys in the cage a couple will work I find the ones that get used the most are shredder toys and a swing is always good you should have enough toys that you can switch them every few weeks so they don't get bored. You should also have a cuttlebone thats all I can think of for now if I am forgetting anything I am sure someone else will be along with suggestions :p

Don't worry about asking questions I think its great that your asking its better to be prepared before hand, if you can't get everything before friday I suggest you get the minimum such as one extra perch and at least 2 toys to start or you could make some there are lots of great cheap suggestions on here to make your own toys. The cuttlebone is a must as it gives them the calcium they need and its fairly cheap, for food you need a good quality seed and its important that you start out right away with giving your cockatiel fruits and vegetables if your cockatiel has never had them it might take a while but its better in the end for them to have a varied diet as an all seed diet is not good for there health and water they need that as well you just put it in a dish and make sure you change it daily.

Here a list of safe fruits and veggies they can eat also take a look around the food and nutrition forum it has some great suggestions on what to give your tiel the rule of thumb is if its healthy for you they most likely can eat it just avoid sugar, salt, coffee ,chocolate, avocodos and there is a few more I am forgetting right now

Personally for my tiel I like this kind of seed and water cup because tiels tend to sit in/on their cup/dish and then mess in it which drives me crazy...so I use this http://www.bird.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=511008

I to don't care much for the tops that open...they are really cool, but sometimes a hassle when opening and closing all the time and trying to hand toys and such...plus when it is open you have to make sure nothing is under that top perch cuz they will perch up there and poop on everything below it. Also make sure it is secure when open so there are no accidents.

As far as toys I think if you get at least 2 in for now and even if they are the budgies toys that is fine just clean them up.

I find that if I hang the veggies on a cabob even the birds who have never eaten veggies before will eat them. They do love millet spray. If you could have a perch up high and hang it from the middle of the top of the cage it will create less of a mess.

Yes, it should be. I have a cage exactly the same as yours and let me tell you now, they're excellent cages. (apart from the opening top which stays closed 'cause as it's been said it does become a hassle)

And about the corn, yes you can give them corn on the cob, you can even cut the corn off of the cob which is what I do. You can give them fruit.. maybe start off with some apples, grapes, oranges and then introduce some more afterwards.

You'll need to get different perches, as Laura's said for example..ropes, branches, pedicure perches etc. You will be able to get them from any pet stores, not sure about parrot sized though, they'll have all the stuff at the pet stores for Cockatiels surely.. so the ladder you'll be able to get a good sized one for your 'tiel and size doesn't matter with the toys, I'd just get a few to start off with.

I would have to say that toy size does matter ;) You want to make sure that they are made for cockatiels. Ring toys can be dangerous if they are to small as a tiel can get their head stuck. I have a musical toy for Spike which he loves but it is meant for cockatoo's he is only aloud to play with it outside of the cage with me watching. It has slits in the sides of the whiffle balls and since it is meant for a cockatoo Spike could get a leg or beak stuck in it, if it were to be hung in his cage. Also with all toys always check for safety :)
