after my (14 yo) parrot woke up he fell from his perch and started breathing heavy with his beak open and 5 minutes later he died. He never showed signs of illness, we're still heartbroken.
any ideas why? I wish you all a very good day.

Our cockatiels are complicated little creatures and things can happen to them just like they happen to people. Perhaps he was struck suddenly with a heart attack, for example. It sounds like you were there for him in his last minutes. I'm sure that was comforting to him and was a special gift of thanks for all the love he gave you.
