Hello everyone! I'm new here! My baby boy is named Pepe and he's 8 weeks old.

He has a large bald spot on his head, his feathers are also a little bare on his neck and chest.
I've been reading around and it seems he must have the lutino bald gene.
I got him from a breeder and I saw his mom and dad... I didn't look closely for it, but it looked like neither of them had a bald spot.

So I'm wondering how long will it take for his feathers to cover up his bald spots, does anyone have similar experiences with their baby lutino cockatiels?

Hello there and welcome to the forum! :)

It's normal for a lutino to have a small bald spot behind their crest, it's a genetic defect. Most lutino cockatiels have them. However due to your baby having bald spots elsewhere it sounds like he was plucked by his parents. Do you see little pin feathers starting to appear? He should feather up rather quickly, it might take a couple of weeks.

Ok that's what i figured about his bald spot on his head.
And yes he does have a lot of pin feathers on his chest and neck.
His feathers are actually growing in very quickly. Every time he has a bath he looks so much better!
