I adopted two birds a week ago, I was told that both are female. The standard grey one is about two years old according to the lady I adopted her from and the other is about a year old apparently. She is not the original owner so wasnt sure.
I don't know how to identify a Pearl pied and was wondering about my baby.

This bird is pearl, but I don't see any pied. Do the yellow tail feathers have a dark quill? If they do, these are pearl tailfeathers not pied. If the tail feathers are completely yellow, with no dark coloring at all, they are pied feathers.

If this bird is only pearl (no pied), she is female. A pearl male would have started losing his pearls by the time he's a year old. If the bird is pearl pied it's harder to tell, because a pearl pied male can keep his pearls for several years.

I guess I have to go back to research because I thought it was a pied. Don’t go by me. It’s been too long. It’s a beautiful bird, however!

Black marks on the tail feathers mean that these are pearl feathers not pied. Pearl tail feathers can be almost pure yellow (but not quite), or they can have a lot of grey markings. When the feathers are mostly yellow they sometimes fool people into thinking that the bird is pied, but that's not the case.

Thank you! You are very helpful, it's so hard to find this information online
