Hello everyone,

Thank you in advance for your help.

I had to pull month olds from their parents due to excessive feather plucking and I haven't had them from so old before. Needless to say they are not willingly eating, however they are not so difficult to force feed.

My concern is that force feeding will possibly harm them as they are not willingly taking in the syringe end.

The youngest has an enlarged ankle joint (My suspicion is that it occurred when my partner handled him. He is so rough).

I only pulled them yesterday but want to be on top of things.

Many thanks for your suggestions,
Jasmine

You can try feeding them formula from a spoon. At this age my chicks prefer the spoon because they aren't restrained and have more control over the process. But they're also used to being handfed so they know what formula tastes like and recognize that it's food. Your chicks don't have this prior training and might not understand.
