Hey everyone,

I just thought that you guys may like to keep updated on the progress between myself, Duckie, and Memphis and Maya. As you know I am having to rehome them, and I figure this thread can be where Duckie and I chat about her taking them, the progress that happens as the time gets closer for her to take them in her care, and for you guys to keep updated so you are not left in the dark, assuming you are concerned that is  lol

Duckie, I just wanted to say that I got all the stuff that you will be getting with M&M ready. I have not washed the things yet, but I spread them all out and took pictures to show you all the stuff you are getting with them. You are recieving over 20 toys (if not more), rope perches, natural branches (I got some older ones, and will be getting you brand new ones as I promised earlier), cement perches, the nest box, books, any food I have left over (same with millet), cuttlebones, shavings (for the nest box), many food dishes of various styles, kinds, and colours, and a few other things. Again, I still have to wash them, but they are laid out, I took pictures of them, and I will post them here so you can get a sneak peek ;)
I am also giving you the awesome play gym that I built them. They really enjoy it, and you might as well have it. I think it's about 25" long, and 1' wide, then maybe 2' tall with various leveled heights to perch, and some area's to hook toys onto, as well as millet and other goodies

I have also thought about when you would like to get them. I honestly do not care, I have been spoiling them wrotten lately and I have already said my goodbyes (in a way) so anytime now works for us mate. My life is starting to get really busy again :)() and I am not sure if I would rather them go now, or wait it out for summer like we origionally planned. What would you like to do?

Anyways, I am off to bed (have to work early in the morning) and I will post the pictures I took of all the supplies for you tomorrow ok :) Have a good one!

Kirby,
I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. On one hand I am so excited to be able to provide a home for Memphis and Maya, and on the other hand I feel sad that you have to part with them. But, thank goodness for email, and TalkCockatiels, where we can communicate, and I keep you updated on the two.

I look forward to the pictures, so I can see if there is anything else I need to pick up.

If you want me to pick them up earlier, I can do that. However, probably not until closer to the end of April, as I am having this knee surgery on March 31. I will be in the hospital for a few days, and then probably in bed a lot for about a week or so, but once I start to get a little more mobile, I can take them when ever you want. I will still be on crutches, but at least I will be mobile (And my husband will be there to help). If you want to aim for the end of April/beginning of May, that is probably the earliest for me, if that is what you want to do.

I am very sad to have to do it, but what can I do? I am only human and this is the right thing to do I think. I was very weary about the whole idea of giving them up, until I talked to you and knew I have found the perfect home. So, I have a good feeling about this all, I know you will be happy, I know they will be happy, and I know I will be happy knowing that they are with you guys. It is very bitter sweet, but more sweet than bitter in the long run, so I am happy.

That does sound good (end of April-May) with me. Then that gives you time to heal, and me time to focus on the last few months of high school. Good luck with your surgery, and keep me/us posted!

ps- pics coming shortly, I just got home from work!

i've got the new cage!!!!

Hi,

I just got the new cage for Memphis and Maya this weekend! It is so cool!

My kids thought it looked bare, so they put one of their stuffed monkeys inside.

Here are some pics!

Hey Kirby!

Just wanted to let you know that I have picked up mineral and a cuttlebone for M&M and have already put them in the cage. Also, I picked up some gravel.

What type of food are you feeding them, so I pick some up as well.

I know I will probably have loads of questions for the first little bit, until I get used to their habits.

I probably will be talking with you soon, but my surgery is Monday, and will most likely not be on my computer for while anyway (few days in hospital and then most likely bed-bound for a few days :( )

If you have a chance to get those pic downloaded, that would be great, so if there is anything else I need to get, I can get it before Monday:rolleyes:.

Thanks so much, and we'll talk soon!

Hey! That is great sutff, isn't it fun to get ready! lol

One thing though, gravel is not necessary for birds, and in it infact does damage to their digestive systems and stomachs :( So I would return it for something else ;)

Food wise, I give them 'Hagen Gourmet Cockatiel" mix. It has pellets, lots of variety, and they just love it! Its about $5.99 for 2.5lbs bag, from PetsMart...

Hmmm I am not sure what else you would need. I have basically all of it. I would get millet spray, those are a favourite and are good for their diets (feed in moderation).

Just incase you did want more toys, they prefer beads and rope the most. Also plastic rings (the cheap ones made for budgies) are on the top of their lists lol. I am giving you a lot of toys though with beads, rope, and plastic, so don't worry you will have some if you don't buy more.

I am really sorry about not uploading the pictures already :( I have to go to work right now, and I will try to put them on here tonight ok :) I want you to see them before your bed-ridden!

No problem about the pics! Get them when you can :)

I will return the gravel, I already have millet left over from my budgies (it should still be ok) and I will pick up some food.

I actually have a plastic ring toy with a bell that I had for budgies, and have already washed it and hung it in the cage. :D

So, do you have already, or do they like (if you don't have) ladders and swings. I seen them in the pet store and thought about buying them, but thought I'd ask you first :)

Talk to you soon,
Duckie ;)
