I found a white face lutino female (albino) for $100. I waiting to hear back but I already excited. Spike is WF split for lutino one of his clutch mates was albino apparently so. I think if I breed him with a wf Lutino I should get albino baby's right.

Was one of Spikes parents a Lutino? If not he may or may not be split for Lutino. If the Father was split to Lutino he would pass that gene to half him male offspring. If the Mother or the father WAS Lutino he WILL carry the split. I hope it's what you're hoping for!

Well I heard back from the man who has the Wf Lutino she is only a year old so I will not be breeding her until next year at least. Spike is also just coming up to a year old on Oct 23. I really don't know much about Spikes back ground as he was left on my door step as a baby. When she left him she also left a note on when he was hatched and how many feedings he was on. He was only 31/2 weeks old. she also gave me some pictures of him with his clutch mates. and one of his brothers or sisters was albino or wf lutino. so if his sibling was a Wf lutino wouldn't one of his parents have to be either split for lutino or be lutino in order to get an albino chick. and would Spike also inheret the lutino gene. I don't know much about mutations so I could use your help.

Yes you are right one of the parents would either have to BE Lutino or the Father could have been split for it to get any WF Lutinos in his clutch. But the only way you could be sure that he carries the gene is if you breed him and you get some, if one of the parents WAS a Lutino (He would automatically get the gene). If his Father was split for Lutino (a female can't be split for Lutino) half of his female offspring would BE Lutino and half of his male offspring would be split for it.
When it comes to sexlinked mutations like Lutino, Pearl, Cinnamon. A hen either is or isn't. She cannot carry a sexlinked gene hidden. It is said of hens "What you see is what you get". Females can however carry Reccesive splits like Whiteface and Pied.
If Spike does have the gene for Lutino you would only need a WF hen to get some WF Lutinos and all of those would be female. With a WF Lutino hen you could get males or females. In order to get males of a sexlinked mutation both parents need to carry the gene.

My Little Monkey (whiteface male) is not far behind him. I can see the change with my eyes but it just doesn't show up in pictures. His behavour is unmistakably MALE.
