I’ve read online that female cockatiels are moodier & more aggressive than males. Is that true? I think that it just depends on the bird but I just wanted to make sure with y’all before I get a tiel.

Thanks so much!

Our first tiel, Snowy, is female. She is moody, but not aggressive - the males bit bigger on their first days with us. Being our first, Snowy is more accustomed to manhandling, she lets us to scratch her head (sometimes even “asks” for it), the male doesn’t.

I think it really just depends on the bird and how well they’ve been handled. I have a male and a female Cockatiel, Skyler and Piper. Skyler, the male and my first Cockatiel, loves snuggles and attention while Piper can be a little more of the ‘don’t touch me unless I want to be touched’ at times. I wouldn’t say she’s aggressive, but she is moody.
