Hi, my male lutino cockateil 7 months old (Goldy) is not bonding with my female whiteface 4 year old (Coco). Goldy is quite new, ive had him for around 1 month and ive had coco for 3 years. I followed every step correctly to ensure that they get along well, that includes putting there cages beside each other for 2 weeks etc. Everytime coco tries to preen or play with him he’ll just ignore her and peck her, which ofc will result in her pecking him back, keep in mind she has a STRONG peck and im afraid she might hurt him one day. I dont know weather its because he’s too young or she’s too old but I’ve honestly ran out of ideas and could use any suggestions on how i could make them get along.

Oh, Goldy is only 7 months old, way still a baby finding out life and way too young to introduce to your girl of 3 yrs with any expectation. May be possible but not for at least another year. She will only be seeing him as a pesky baby. Their cages don't necessarily have to be side by side, just in the same room. Teach your boy to sing a tune which can be anything, but will be his swan song. She will listen and learn. Don't expect too much too soon. Wait another year, introduce a nesting box in her cage at breeding season, and if...never a done deal...she accepts him, they will do the deed...so to speak. Can't force against what nature has a doing. Thing is, don't buy a tiel for a tiel as it will not always work out the way you expect. Birds are birds, afterall 😕
