one of my first time breeders has laid an odd shaped egg, any thoughts as to why? she gets plenty of fresh foods, along with her seeds and pellets. sprouts, egg food, cuttle bone and mineral blocks. plus full sunlight every day (in the aviary she can go in and out of it as she pleases) could it have just taken a bit longer to travel hence it being longer?

I had this problem with one of my hens. I started feeding kale daily its loaded with vitamin A, Calcium, potassium and others I can't think of at the moment. Lots of good egg-laying stuff. Longer eggs can be a warning sign for prolapse or egg binding. She may be eating too much seed, try removing seed from her diet for a few days and feed lots of pellets and veggies. This may improve as a result.

She laid a "normal" egg. I was going to remove her seed but the egg was already laid. thankfully all seems well with her
