Been trying to be patient and not rush anything when it comes to gaining Roy’s trust. He’s been here a week today. Patience is not my strong suit, but I think I’m on the right track here. A few more days of this and I think he might mount my hand on his own 🤞

Patience. My two love their millet. I talk to mine a lot and whistle to them. My male is very active lives to fly. He is a hand raised baby. My female is more gentle but hand tamed. My male is mimicking whistles already. Looks like what your doing is right. I make a clicking sound and tell them to step up. Extend your hand. Don’t come at them from above. Keep your hand at eye level. Call their name also. They adjust on their on schedule.

You’re so right, he put one foot on my finger two days ago and yesterday he stepped up. He actually gives me some love taps when I introduce the millet. He gets impatient to get his millet. Before I put my hand in, sit right near his cage by a small table. I place the millet branch where he can plainly see it and after a few minutes he’s raring to go. I make sure that he has to deal with my finger before he can get a clear go at the millet. He pushes up against my finger repeatedly and then steps up, very exciting. I’m hoping to be able to move my hand around with him on it, inside the cage, by next week and then bring him out when he’s ready, very exciting, great bonding going on!
