lice or mites

Hi - sorry your bird has some unwanted "guests." They look like lice to me (mites do not have wings). There are some mite sprays you can get over the counter. Make sure you get the spry for birds and not other animals. And you will have to disinfect the cage and all its contents, too. Again, make sure you use a bird-safe disinfectant. You poor bird looks like its got a heavy infestation. A trip to the vet would be good.

My birds recently got red mites (its hot and humid where I live) I followed Susanne Russo's advice and used Sevin 5% dust(Carbaryl) They were gone straightaway. Sevin is an insectiside,it will kill any insect,so just read Susannes article on ''red mites''(event though you may have different insects) and hopefully the problem will clear soon https://www.justcockatiels.net/red-mite-attacks.html

You've made several posts about this mite problem. It can be fixed easily if you get the right treatment for it which is usually some sort of spray treatment. Any vet (even if not a bird specialist) should have something to treat this.

Hey all, an apology. Lice do not have wings, either. I still think what you have there are lice. Best wishes in getting rid of them.
