My cockatiel, Cosmo, needs her cage to be warmer in the winter. She rejected a sleeping cage in my bedroom. She will only sleep on her bridges so a heated perch won't work. She also rejected the heated panel on the wall of her cage. So, I'm thinking about a heat lamp. Does anyone know what the safest one would be and where I can get it? I'm concerned that it will be on all night (I'm paranoid about house fires after a bad experience). Also, how do I know it's the proper temperature and not too hot for her? I see reptile lights being sold every where, but am having trouble finding an approved bird light.
I'm thinking of renaming my bird "Miss Picky Feathers".
