Is this normal 3 month old tiel behavior? (please answer)

I got my tiel last week as a first time owner. Birb seems to be healthy; appetite is fine, droppings look normal, is playful and likes to chew. It's tame as well and is allowed to wander around the room. Diet includes seeds and vegetables (has consumed some egg white the other day) and clean water is available 24/7.

Here's the napping thing I'm concerned about. It naps about six times a day. Naps get longer from 3 p.m. on until I put it back inside at about 7 p.m and cover the cage. I let the birb sleep until 8 in the morning, but prolonged naps are still concerning.
I'm worried if it doesn't get enough sleep or something else is wrong. Please tell me if this is normal baby behavior or I'm just overthinking it.

Peace, Levi

It does sound like everything is fine. Does your bird have something to KEEP him busy like toys? You mentioned chewing so I assume he has something. A lot of times birds will sleep if there bored and have nothing to keep them entertained. Do you allow him much out of cage time? If this pattern continues, you might want to plan a trip to an Avian (if possible) vet.

It sounds like everything is ok, your teil is quite normal and still a baby so I wouldn't worry.

It has toys and cuttlebone available, chews on them sometimes but is still sleepy.
Spends most of time outside, indeed. It's been extra sleepy since yesterday and I have to remind it to eat and drink. I don't have access to a trustworthy vet, and I'm worried it might not be doing well.
Maybe he is not getting a proper nap outside the cage, they are still very alert when out, can relax more inside, try putting him inside for a good rest then have him out again. My tiel is 8 months and also been a sleepyhead, I have her out about 2hrs on a morning, 2hrs afternoon and 1hr evening, put her to bed about 7.30. Routine when she can sleep well inside her cage. (And she still has the odd 5mins nap when she is out) just a suggestion to try.

Last afternoon I put it back into the cage for some hours and it seemed to work. Thanks for the tip! I'll follow the same routine from now on.

I envy that...i got my girl at 7 or 8 yrs of age. She was never out of her cage before and does not want out now . she does have a way off telling me she wants food how ever and if she knocks her food dish or water dish down she will cock her head funny at it til i see it.she loves her cutter bone and keeps eggs alot . her favorite toys are zip ties that hold her cage tog2
ather that cam with her ...i added the zips and she loves them. All other toys are just there. She loves to play with my nails but wont step and does not want pets. But she is so sweet other wise. I guess since her former owner was a kid when she got her and a teen when she decided to let her go she missed out of human contact
