Is this jute twine ok for my cockatiel?

I bought some jute twine to make toys for my cockatiel just a while ago. I heard it's the best type of rope you could use for your bird so I made sure to buy some when I visited the craft shop. I was pretty happy because I got one of the last ones on sale.

However when I brought it home and started to make a toy with it, I noticed that there were strings coming out of the rope. It was relatively easy to pull out, so I'm worried that my cockatiel might consume some of the strings. Is it safe for him? He seemed to like chewing on it very much. Here's a photos of the roll and the strings.
