Hello! I have a 3 year old male cockatiel, although I had an female cockatiel that passed away due to an illness. My male cockatiel a few days ago started sleeping with his head tucked under his wing. He has never done this before again except once when he was sleeping but never did this again. Although I don't think he is sick or has shown any signs of illness, I have checked him and he seems fine. He has been active, singing, etc. However this did get me a bit alarmed, is it rare? It was on the day and it was during a time he usually takes naps.

I also forgot to mention, the day prior he didn't sleep as much as he usually does since I was working a bit with my printer that wasn't working correctly. Was this to make up for the bit that he didn't sleep?

Sometimes they sleep with head tucked in wings, often for warmth and dark, and sometimes they just kind of snooze. Think you would be surprised IF you could sneak up on them at night and actually see how they sleep. Camera maybe?

Completely Normal! As you mentioned he didn't get proper sleep the day prior. Besides The natural sleeping position for a cockatiel to sleep is in an upright position, on a perch, resting on one leg. From there, they usually put their heads in their feathers and use their bodies as a form of a soft pillow. They also tuck their head in for warmth.
