Hello, my name is Estela, my cockatiels and I are new parents to two babies they are about 4 weeks, but he is totally bold except for the top part, I dont see any feathers coming from the top of its head, and he does not walk much.
Do you think the parents are plucking? is it bad nutrition? (parents dont like fruits or veggies and I offer it every day? the other one is grey and doesn't have that much of a problem. Parents are feeding ok.
I included a pic of the baby chick.
Please help!

Yes, the boldness is due to blood pin feather was chewed off by parents. Usually, the dad. If you look carefully, you can see the black end, that is partially chewed pin feather. This is due to excess pruning. Baby will grow new feather back in a few weeks.

For my breeding pair, male do most preen for baby. sometimes, he did excess preening chew a few under belly feather. a few head feather, but as bad as yours. I think the main reason is male have too much time in a breeding cage. If the parent 's a break, let them out of cage.

As for diet, provide fresh vegetables such as spinach and calcium mineral blocks will help too. I don't think cockatiel like fruit. They do like fresh grass, vegetable and tree twigs.

Thanks for your help, actually the father spend the whole day with me on my laptop, he only goes inside of the nest when it is his turn to feed the babies. I will keep an eye on mom, but both are always outside the cage.
