Ok so I got a cockatiel about a month ago. About 2 days after we got him I got his wings clipped so he was scared of me of course. So I worked slow with him and got it so once he is out of the cage on the floor or furniture I can get him to step up and he seemed to love that and we don’t chase him around or try to get him when he is on or on hos cage because he bites and hisses. But then tonight he stepped up but then he kept biting at my face and hissing. What happened and what can I do to change it
Treats and patience. Also try letting him out and letting him take things at his own pace. Don't force your finger too close, and don't make him do things. Spend time around his cage when he is inside and give him treats to let him know you are a friend. Good luck!
Have you tried sticking millet spray through the bars of the cage? It helps them feel protected but they still get a treat from a safe distance. I also like sunflower seeds when he gets more comfortable, its a little bigger and lets them be a little farther.
