To get Spike to try new things. It has worked so far but I have only done it a few times. I set up the love seat with a paper towel and put some treats on it. Today it was some bits of orange. And I of course put toys down aswell. Then I grab my book and read and after a while Spike will go over and try the food :D I was eating the orange today as well and he seemed not to like it. But he kept on trying it anyway  I guess if I ignore the treats, they can't be that dangerous :p I thought I would share. Iam glad he is trying new things. My budige Icarus also gets whatever Spike tries. If he does not like it he will throw his treat dish on the ground

My Dad offered Ollie some orange the other day and Ollie attacked it. :p

That's great that you found a way to get your birds to try new things! Ollie doesn't seem to be too interested in food treats just yet...

Earl and Little Bill will try new things, once they get used to the look of it, I put it on the grate in the cage, or give it to them while they are outside the cage :p
That is a good method of getting Spike to try new things! But how long will it take before he knows your plans? :excited:

All i had to do to get my budgies to eat something new was sprinkle millet, or thier food or nutra berries on it, then they'd eat it w/out a problem

now they eat pretty much every thing i give them, or at least trys it

they love mixed veggies, even my tiels odd thing is NONE of them like the carrots thats all thats ever left in thier treat dishes after a thing of mixed veggies

Carrots are the last thing in mine too- they like them raw and shredded best otherwise if they were part of the mixed veggies they'll leave them last. I ussually leave the plate them a little longer and they eat all their carrots too.
