The following is instructions on how to embed a video from YouTube to your TalkCockatiels thread/post.

1. Go to the video the you want to embed.

2. Underneath the video you'll see several different options. Click the one that says "Embed".

3. Highlight the code it gives you. Right-click on the highlighted area and then click "Copy".

4. (You also have an option to change the video size of the embedded video)

5. Go to TalkCockatiels and bring up the thread where you want to embed your video. Right-click and select "Paste". When you're all done there, submit your thread/post.

6. Voila! Your video should now be able to be viewed from the forum.

*NOTE: For some unknown reason, some YouTube videos will not embed.
I do not know the reason for this and do not know a solution. Sorry!

This is how I always did it, and it doesn't work for me anymore since a few months ago. I try every time and always end up having to just post the lik, which I hate :(
Rowdy could you do me a huge favour? Try to embed one of my own videos. I want to see if it works for you or it's just my videos that don't like being embedded.
This is a link for one http://youtu.be/Vs-JilbIGBY

Sure! I'll go try it out in the test forum right now. :)
I know how frustrating it is! I've thought about emailing YouTube but I haven't had that problem lately.

edit;
I tried it out, but I guess it's just one of those videos. :( Maybe you could email YouTube tech support or someone and find out what's going on?

Is t possible that when I upload the videos I tick/untick some settings box I should leave alone? If embedding works for you on other videos, it must be something I do wrong when I save mines.
Thank you for trying, Rowdy, much appreciated. I will test some upload settings and see if I can come up with the culprit.

That could be it. I upload my videos via my tablet app so I can't help much in the uploading department. :(
I hope you find out what's prohibiting it!

Ok, so I've just added some BB Code to enable you guys to embed YOUTUBE videos only. Doesn't work with other video hosts.

For the purpose of this example, I have to use spaces to separate links because if I don't, the software will think I'm trying to embed the video and you guys won't see my example.

1. All Youtube links should look something like this:

http://w w w .youtube.com/watch?v=eiNpAyBuCd0

2. For this to work, you just need to cut/copy the portion of the link AFTER "v=". In the above example, that portion is "eiNpAyBuCd0".

3. Once you have this copied, go into any thread/post and use the Youtube BB open/close tags. The tags are as follows... you must use the square looking brackets... and again, ignore the spaces in the word y o u t u be. I had to write it like this.

Open Tag - [y o u t u b e]
Close Tag - [/y o u t u b e]

4. So to embed the video you want, type in the open youtube tag, paste the portion from your youtube link (step #2) and then type in the youtube close tag. To embed the above youtube link in the example, it should look like this minus all the spaces.

[y o u t u b e]eiNpAyBuCd0[/y o u t u b e]

Thank you, Yung! On another forum they do it this same way to embed YouTube videos, too.
