Hi everyone i need a smack on the rist ive done it again ive fallen in love with a new tiel s/he is coming to me in just under 2 weeks i cant wait its like waiting for christmas s/he has been hand raised by a breeder who says there so tame her 3 year old holds and plays with them im so happy to finaly find someone who was willing for me to go to them and look at the babys and mum and dad she is so down to earth as well which is good
dont you think s/he is so cute i dont no when to stop

Ive been told s/he is a pearl but i spose we will have to wait for all the feathers to come out properly i just love them when there so small like that

Im hoping s/he will be a she as she wont lose her pearls i cant wait to see what she looks like all feathered out.

Eden my middle child wants to name her Robbie after Robbie Rotton the character from lazy town i would prefere Trixy who is also in the program he also chose Dora and Diego ill just have to explain if she turns out to be a girl(not to keen on the Rotton part)

Our Lee is a white face Pearl, we thought he was a she and now he is losing his Pearls I was a little disappointed I was hoping it was a female because he was so gorgeous, but what can you do he will still be gorgeous without them

I no i hanent really got a favourite mutation or anything im quite happy to have anything as there all so cute im exyra excited this time though as ive never had such a young baby or one that is hand raised im all ready thinking about setting up there cage i cant wait lol

My Maya was named Diego formerly... it was a GREAT NAME

Until we found out he was a she hence the name change...

but I think she is adorable, and I'd pick a unisex name

My tiel Mali is a pearl. When do they usually start losing the pearls? Gosh I hope she doesn't, but hearing from other people they thought their pearls were girls and ended up being males and losing their pearls makes me wonder if it'll happen to me too. :lol:

If you have a male pearl the pearl markings will start to disappear during the first moult.

My Lee (white face pearl) is about 6 months old and he started losing his pearls a few weeks ago sometimes it takes a few moults to lose them all, but you can see a lot of his are starting to go on his back.

I heard some really heavy male pearl tiels keep a few of their pearls. I heard in a bird show they get higher marks for having some pearls

Thanks for that, Mali is only 4 months and 2 weeks so I'll wait til she's about 6 months and see from there.

I can't imagine her without pearls, lol. As gorgoeus as she is, she'll still be cute if she loses her pearls.

She's got such a small crest too. :lol: would that just be how she is, cause she's a pearl?

I don't think a small crest is a pearl trait. I think it is just an individual tiel trait, as in some tiels crest are smaller than others Thats just my opinion anyway.
