Hello,
I have a female white face pearl cockatiel named Jelly Bean. She has a history of egg laying and hormonal behavior..She is about 6, maybe 7 years old and her behavioral lately is out of control and I just don't know what to do or where to go from here.
First off, let me say, I feel like I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. She always goes back to those behaviors I can't stand. She likes to scream, it's the most obnoxious tone that she does on repeat whenever she is mildly annoyed or bored. She has lots of toys, different food choice, a large cage, plus outside cage time each day.
I feel like the main problem is that she thinks I am her mate. As long as she is on my arm/shoulder, or I am giving her my undivided attention she is actually a very sweet bird. However this is impossible to keep up. Even if I get up to go to the bathroom or briefly leave the room she immediately goes off and screams. She used to have a mate years ago and seemed to like him, but he moved away as he was my roommates bird.
I've considered getting her a new mate before, but I what if that just adds to the problem. Does anyone have an ideas or suggestions.
Thank you so much!
