I know this has been brought up before. I got the most beautiful cockatiel a few months ago. I don’t know the history as was found and I got through a bird rescue place. This Angel has turned into a nasty demanding bird and I am at my wits end. I made a mistake and put a box in the cage and it’s gone horribly downhill from there. I removed the box and he got way worse and attacking my mum now when she stands up. I put the box back and since after extensive reading have learnt a few things. No nesting material, more sleep time (at least 12 hours) no carbohydrates, stimulating toys. If aggressive just leave in cage with all the food and clean water. He/she just goes on an on all day running backwards and forwards, making aweful constant call. It’s really stressed. I am literally ready to open the window and let it go. Maybe that’s how it was found in the first place. I don’t want to burden anyone else with this bird. My questions are. How long will this last ??? It’s just first day of autumn here today. Any herbs that could help? Has anyone tried chamomile or can anyone tell me what is the the Bird Salad. I am from New Zealand and we don’t sell it here. I have permanently removed the box Please don’t be hard on me as I am at my wits end and I have had lots of birds in the past. I am a nervous wreck

why not put a small mirror in cage see if clams him down ,O know this is controversial but he seems he's calling for another bird ? maybe play some soothing music for him . I dont understand the box thing so i dont know what that about but just talk gently and don't push ,it seems he's scared has anything happen new noises ? dont panic try the mirror

Hello and Thankyou. He has a mirror and we have another bird. He got territorial with the box In his cage I put it in as he seemed to enjoy playing in it but started ‘nest’ building. I only think it’s a boy as talks a bit and Wolf whistles . It’s been over 2 weeks now and we have good and bad days. The birds get loads of out of cage time. I think I am his mate in his eyes. He insists on sitting on my head which I don’t like so I just wear a cap. We seem to be sorting it out. Thanks again
