Hi, I'm new. Just a few words about my flock. 16 cockatiels, 3 parents.
My adult cockatiels seem to be depress when they are around their young ones.
I notice that Jude, the father is not singing as much, nor have I heard him tell me to wake up. When walk into the room, he and the two females Mini and Semmi go crazy running in the bottom of the cage and yelling while the others are singing. They will not clam down until I take them out of the cage. but if I let all 16 out at the seem time they seem a little upset, until the young ones are put back in the cage. when the young ones are out they wont come to me and when I go to put the Mini in the cage she flys over to the finch cage, (that’s where they hang out when not on me) she never did this before she would just go in. Jude and Semmi wont go in until Mini does, she’s the queen.

do they get tired of the young ones, is this possible?

I have my Cookie and Bailee breeding at the moment, and they have one chick in the nest. Everyday they take turns and whoever isn't with Snickers (baby) is absolutely dying to get out and play. I think they need short breaks from their duties from time to time. I haven't heard Bailee (father) sing for at least 2 weeks now, he used to sing all the time. It'll be interesting to see if he starts singing once Snickers is out of the nest.
