Hi everyone!

I'm Tia and I currently have one budgie and I will be getting another next breeding season (spring). I also REALLY want a tiel. I want to get a budgie friend for Sunni first but after that, if I can convince my parents, I want a tiel. I have done a lot of research and I'm positive that I want one! The problem is that my Mum & Dad are really fed-up with me and my birds. I've had lovebirds before and I had a lot of tears when it escaped and a cat got it. I was so upset that I couldn't keep my remaining lovebird and it was rehomed with a breeder who was looking for a big female for breeding. She is doing very well I hear which is good but since then my dumb mum went out and bought another one. I can't stand that bird, she bites, squarks, attacks Sunni, and on top of that she makes me fell sad all the time. Because I was annoyed with her she bought me Sunni who is the only good thing that came out of her. S/He is very sweet.

I hope I can convince them when the time comes. Any tips?

Welcome to Talkcockatiels!! I was in exactly your position a few months ago...parents, eh? . It took AGES to persuade them, it was mainly Dad that had a problem. Now they are completely inseparable, Willow sits on him all day whilst I am at school. So if you do get your tiel, I swear your parents will love him/her.

P.s - maybe show them this thread so make then realise how much you really would like a tiel.

Hey- sorry to hear about the lovie. Do as much research as you can here. Goodluck convincing them! I had two budgies when I moved out of my parents and now three years later I have 8 bugies and 2 tiels, a fish and a hamster...showed them! lol

I plan on having as many birds as I can when I leave home! Lol! I will make sure that my kids grow up with them. I adore them!

Hi, and yes, you do want a tiel! I only had mine for less than 3 years, but she was a bird I absolutely would've loved to have for the 20+ years they can live...

Just what they said when I mentioned it! They thought it was just another little animal faze I was going through. They thought I would get over it within a few days!
