Hello!

I am a psychology student for Leicester, UK and I am hoping to own my first cockatiel once myself and my fiance have moved house! At our current flat we haven't been allowed to keep any pets but we're both animals lovers and have missed a companion around the home since we first moved out. We're moving out at the end of the month and a local pet shop has told us that they will be selling young cockatiels in about 10 weeks or so, so excited!

Any good tips for a first time bird owner would be much appreciated!

Hello and welcome!
How exciting you will be getting a new baby soon.
There are many great tips on this site.
I would suggest making sure the bird's cage is big enough and has plenty of toys before he/she arrives. Get all your foods eg: pellets a few days earlier. Maybe even cook up a batch of vegies (see recipe sticky for ideas). So you can get them on to vegies etc straight away. Don't remove seeds from their diet but also don't allow him/her to only have seeds.
