I left a plate of pancakes out for me to eat, but suddenly my Cockatiel got spooked and flew circles around the room and landed into the syrup! His feet were coated in it and there was a little bit on his chest, but I'm scared that he might have gotten some in his mouth? I washed him off, but he still smells like syrup.

Will he be okay? I don't have money to take him to the vet since they are expensive around here, but if I need to I will. Should I do anything to help him?

(Yes, this is a legitimate question! I know it sounds absurd.)

If he's still a little sticky, have you tried washing him with Dawn dish soap? The stuff they use to bathe birds in oil spills? But ParrotletsRock is right, he should be okay, and it sounds like he doesn't have too much to ingest since you washed him off right away. Keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't obsessed with the feathers that got syrup on them in case there's still some residue there that's bothering him.
