Hi everyone! I’m new here. I’ve had a male cockatiel in the past and absolutely loved him and all his singing. I got a New cockatiel recently, did not DNA test it Bc I’ve been waiting for 7 months in line for the cockatiel and was too inpatient to also get it dna tested (if it were a female I think I would wait again for a male) so here is my new cockatiel, I would say about 3/4 months old maybe. Just screams when in the cage and wants to come out, sometimes chatters but does not sing. Any idea when they start to exhibit gender behavior? First molt? Thank you in advance :)

Does it talk a lot? Put it in front of the mirror and check the reaction. Does it sing? If it does then there is a chance it’s a boy also check it’s way it stands if it’s legs are close to each other there a chance it’s a boy if it stands with far legs theres a chance it’s a girl
if you were patient enough, after I guess 3-4 months it‘ll molt, if it’s crest is short with no curls it’s a girl! If it’s tall with a curl it’s a boy!
thank you for your reply! No singing :( it’s only 3-4 months old so maybe still soon? It only like screams and chatters right now. Now that you mention it, I feel like the stance is wide. I’m leaning towards female but a little bit in denial because I love the singing haha
