Any rust? no,,the cage is in perfect condition
Is it mesh? no
Whats the bar spacing? budgie/finch size,,, about 1/4 inch?

This is just my opinion I would shop around a little more, to me it looks a little small it sounds like it was better for budgies and not cockatiels did they give you the measurements of the cage? just to give you an example I got a cockatiel cage bigger then that on a stand for 60.00 dollars on sale at a pet store, from the picture it doesn't even have perches or dishes? personally I think its over priced.

Just seems weird she would take them out for that, I would ask about it, how do the doors open they look small to me, I am not trying to discourage you I just think it would be better suited for budgies, I find it much easier to have a cage with a big open door for cockatiels I just leave my cage door open so they can come and go on there own unless my eyes are deceiving me which could be possible at this ungodly hour when I should be in bed :p they look like 3 small doors you have to hold open with your hand I find them hard to get birds out of.

The size is fine for one tiel, but on closer inspection Laura is right - the doors are only small, usually that type of cage has 3 small doors with one really big one which can is immensely useful when arranging the toys and perches, and of course for getting the tiel in and out.

I think reading all the comments from Laura and Bea, I would go for a different cage. I only saw the size, I didn't examine it like they did. I know from experience that those sort of doors are a pain in the butt. The money that I wasted on the first two cages that I bought would have paid for the decent one that I have now. Don't rush into it, something will come along and hopefully it will be the right one first time. It might be better to save up a little more and buy a decent one from the start and not waste money on unsuitable cages like I did before realising that you only get what you pay for.

It's good that you are looking around a bit more, the bigger the space they have the happier they are, and those doors that you have to hold open, some tiels are clever enough to open them there selves if there is no lock or anything that only you can open! :D Also if you e-mail him/her back, ask for more detailed answers, it seemed they didn't want to give much away with the yes/no answers they gave to you! :p Hope you find a cage thats perfect! :)

Thank you Plukie :p you said it perfectly I was not trying to discourage I just didn't want her to waste money on a cage and find out its not good those doors are way to small to get a tiel out of you have to hold them open and wait for them to come and to stick your hand in is a pain, I find there even a pain for budgies I had one for Sparkle and it was such a pain to try and get my hand in and her out the door I find with the smaller space doors they get easily spooked when your trying to pull them out.
