My older male cocktiel's female mate died recently. Clearly he is lonely and needing some advice about supplying a distraction for him. He is an older bird, so don't want to purchase another mate. He is really smart so needs distractions.
I put a beanie baby stuffed bird on his cage which he seems interested in, but is chirping all the time, so not sure what is going on. Wondering if i should purchase a plastic replica of a cockatiel? Any suggestions for helping him??

You might try supplying him with new cage toys and give him as much attention as you can to at least try and keep his mind off his mate. You might also give him special treats from time to time.
