Hello everyone,

Earl does this behaviour in and out of the cage. And I would like to know if any of yours do it, or it's just the way Earl is...?? :)

In the cage: He comes right up to your face, and chunners ('tiel noises-singing, most noises 'tiels make/also known as chattering!:)) then turns his head around still chunnering, and sometimes he turns his head and the back of his head will be touching your nose or lips. He also will beak bang, and click his beak (sort of looks like he is grinding the top on the bottom.)

This is the same outside the cage, he will just sit on your finger and chunner and turn his head around, and then if you lift him up to your face he will put his head turned around away from you still chunnering/making tiel noises, and but his head on your lip/nose.

I would like to know if any of yours do it, or it's just the way Earl is...?? :) His crest is very relaxed when he is doing this, and he just looks very laid back, but I am also wondering is he trying to tell me something, likes me etc., or is just HAPPY! :D Thanks.

Earl sounds like quite a character. :)

Can you explain "chunnering"? I'm not familiar with that term. However, Sam will turn his head around as if to say "please scritch right HERE!" and does a ton of beak grinding when he's on my shoulder watching TV in the evenings. Beak grinding is a sign of a comfortable, relaxed, sleepy bird.

He did this behaviour yesterday when I came home from school, he grabbed onto the side until he was level with my face with me standing fully up and then he started doing this behaviour. Also he had only seen me in the morning. Do you think he did it over being excited to see me...? :) (Like Jaime mentioned Spike does.)
