Hi there

I'm fostering a Cockatiel who is unable to fly, he is approximately 10-15 years old. He's never had company I'm any shape or form, human or bird. He hisses when you go near most of the time. He climbs the cage using his beak and feet.
He is happy in his bubble and very well cared for now.
My question is can he be bonded with another Cockatiel. I get the impression he could be bullied.

I'd love to hear some opinions

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! First of all, ANY cockatiel can be bullied. That's pretty much up to the birds. Some hit it of real well and others just don't care for another bird. At 10 to 15 years old, I'd say he's pretty much set in his ways. I'm not saying you couldn't try another tiel with him but if you do, just keep a close eye on them for the first few weeks to see how it goes. For a bird to be on his own and NOT had any companionship, I'm so glad you are taking good care of him now. Sadly, many birds are not that lucky.

Thank you Robert! I appreciate it. I was just thinking if it's likely another bird is more likely to bully because of his disability. But yes I suppose it depends on the bird. I'm so worried about him beingt adopted to a home with a bird if the bonding doesn't work. It's so hard to know the right thing to do by him, he's had such a disgusting life till now, I want to get it right.
