At first he would run around and chirp and not eat. I thought he needed to be let out and sure enough he got out of the cage when I left the door open. He seemed happy the rest of the night but not trusting. Ever since the night he was out he just sits silently no chirping no movement. I'm really not sure want to do it seems like being next to the cage isn't adding up to much. Any tips? :grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel::grey tiel:

Is the bird hand raised or tame? The running around may have been stress of the new environment as 'pacing' is often associated with being stressed. He may have calmed down by now. They're very smart and require plenty of patience to trust new people. Stick with it :pied:

Hello there and welcome to the forum!

Don't worry, this sounds like normal behaviour for a new bird settling into his new home and surroundings. He will take a while to become fully comfortable with everything as it can be a very stressful time for them.

There is a thread here that you may get some helpful tips from.

Once he settles in, try some food bribery with him.
