Hello , I’m new here. I just got a 4 months old birb for almost a week . And one thing that stressed me out is he make this screeching noise. He is fully weaned, ate a looott . When I opened the cage , he came to me then start making this noise . I asked the breeder , they said that’s common cause he just got separated from his siblings. He did this 3-4 times a day for <5 minutes long. The only way to stop him is to leave the room or put him in his seeds bowl (but it doesn’t always work) . I try to scratch him but he doesn’t stop crying. The thing is he came to me, then he cried until I left him . I have no idea, please seniors, give me guidance 🥲🥲

He’s starting to enjoy scritches(closed his eyes) , and want to eat veggies from my mouth, he fly to me but he make this screeching noise. I didn’t know if weaned cockatiels do this too , I thought only hand fed young babies .

I think he most likely is just stressed. Cockatiels can be very clingy and ask for a lot of attention. As yours is quite young and also has not been with you for very long he probably is going through very stressful time. Try to talk to him a lot especially calmly so he would become more accustomed to you and relax. Maybe try to play some music, there are some videos on YouTube with calming sounds for birds. Just try to avoid playing other bird sounds as this could trigger his anxiety of being separated from siblings. I would say it will take some time for him to stop crying, but be prepared that they can be shouting a lot when asking for attention. Also don’t force physical contact, take it slow and scratch him only if he wants to be scratched. At this time is is important for him to feel as safe as possible and not pressuring him will help with that.
Definitely monitor his behavior, if anything changes and he develops any symptoms of illness I would suggest to contact a vet.
