During the night, my female cockatiel makes a very odd creaking noise.
While sneezing (I think). After I take her out, she usually stops making it while sneezing after half an hour or so. My guess is that it may be like how mucus can gather out our nasal area during the night if the air is too dry (it always happens to me too) and gradually goes away after we wake up. Do y’all think that may be the case?

Tiels often sleep with their head tucked into their back (thought to be to inhale warm air from their body), She might be inhaling some dust from her feathers causing the sneezing bout. Unless she continues sneezing during the day or making respiratory sounds I wouldn't be concerned.

If you live in a dry climate a humidifier will help both of you. Also, no matter where you are a suitably sized HEPA filter will help clear the air of any irritating bird dander. You would be surprised how much bird dust a filter unit will catch - even from a single cockatiel.

alr, ty! she sneezes suring the day, but not very often. by that, i mean like- maybe twice at once and doesnt sneeze to much in general. shes also pretty young (4 months old) and ive been told that young 'teils sneeze more often. in the morning after waking up, she tends to have that creacky, raspy sound that goes away after around half an hour after shes awake. another guess i have is that it may be a bit cold for her at night, because cold air usually gets intomy room. ty for the advice, it was helpful!
