Hi everyone i think my Houidini may be a girl and not a boy he doesnt do much all day but sleep and eat he doesnt whistle like my other boys do he eats fine he likes his veggies,millet and eggs and he has pleanty of water and his poop is fine.Maybe its just getting used to moving in with us and not being in an aviary with other birds is why he is all fluffed up and sleeping(they make me laugh when they turn there heads round so it looks like its on back to front with there eyes closed)i just dont no what do you think?

I would be a bit worried if he's fluffed up as well as sleeping a lot. Even with normal poops that could mean he's feeling a bit sick. Do you have an avian vet you could get him checked at? It could just be settling in (how long have you had him?) but it could be something else, and i always think it's better to be safe than sorry.

ive had him a week today he does play and show intrest in his toys but he just seems very quite.Yeah i have a good avian vet his name is alan k jones but he only spends an hour a week or fortnight i cant remember at the local vets near me he is so hard to get an appointment with i think it also has something to do with the fact that he specialises in exotic animals you can look him up on google he looks like a realy strict man but actually he is very nice to talk to and he explains everything so you can understand it i might find out when he is next near me and if i can get an appointment,I no alot of people would say take him to a normal vet but ive had bad experience with them before i would rather it be with someone who specialises in birds and not dogs.

im just hoping he is just a quite bird and settling in

I don't waste my time taking my birds to normal vets either, it's a waste of time and money to hear a diagnosis i had already made myself... "your bird is sick". The only vets i'll take the fids to is either the avian vet himself, or one of the other vets in his practice as they're all great with birds.

allan is great and so is emma but the demand for avian vets in and around london is so high hes almost impossible to get an appointment with him but the plus side with him is you can phone or email he will allways answer.i mighy email as there on 24 hour call i think

well i just got off the phone to the breeder about houidini to find out if any of the other birds are sick he said no but would check for me tommorrow and he asked if he had millet what has that got to do with him being ill or have i missed something about birds and millet? i told him he eats and drinks fine.He stoped asking me questions after i told him i had 4 all ready he must of thought i was stupid or something. remember hes the wone who sold me a pearl pied after saying it was a lutino pearl pied looks nothing like a lutino.

i have been to my mums today and tramp is fine(lol hes name is tramp coz my mums wf is called lady)hes climbing whistleing and showing intrest in everything him and houidini came from the same avery and are brothers so i dont no what to think.

He has perked up a bit today and has been out and flown about im convinced hes a girl though he is just very quiet. i just hope its all due to him settling in.

i would still get him to a avian vet just to be safe better to be safe then sorry
