Hello! I have been looking into getting a cockatiel for a year now, and I recently read that "Cockatiels can trigger allergies". I'm allergic to dogs and cats, but not birds. Will cockatiels still affect me?

If anyone can provide any insight, then that would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

yes. my mom had asthma in the past. she hasn't had any episodes for years and she wanted a friendly bird. We got her a pair and she had them for about 2 months but she started wheezing and having trouble breathing. So we took the birds back and she's gotten better.
