A few weeks ago I posted about combining 2 cockatiels that I inherited with my bird. The combining was successful but I feel terrible that I did not know my bird was sick. He was puffy feathered and sat on pearch in corner of cage with face tucked away. I thought he was being shy. Turns out it was a sign of illness. Yesterday he was at bottom of cage breathing heavy and within hours passes away. Is there some preventative medicine I could give the other 2 in case he had a contagious infection?

I would get a necropsy done so you can find out whether or not your bird even was contagious. You should never ever give your bird medicine without instruction to do so from a vet

Try getting the body to a vet to determine the cause of death. Move your other bird to a different cage till you find the cause of illness.
