Hello, I was wondering if I could get your guidance. My boyfriend insists that his cockatiel goes to bed at 9pm. I usually got to bed between 9-10pm. Since the bid's cage is in the living room he makes me leave the room, even though I only am going to be finishing watching my show within the next 60 minutes max. My question to you is, Can the cockatiel be covered and still go to sleep if I am watching tv with a light on in the same room?

My cockatiels are in the room covered even if we're watching TV or gaming. They grind their beak by 20 minutes after covered and we don't hear them after that. Light is moderate and the person on the tv is using headphones while the pc on the other side of the room plays with sound on speakers.

We never had the impression that we "woke" them, or that they didn't sleep well since we started covering them. Not covered is another story, they were definitly tired of our **** and grumpy all day.

Well.....if this helps, I have 13 cockatiels and two sun conures in the living room! LOL! I go to bed earlier than most people due to my job but on week ends I may stay up later than the birds and watch a little tv. I always try and cover mine no later than 7:30pm because I have to wake and feed them. Once they are covered....after about 5 minutes they all seem to go to sleep as I hear no noise. I have a small lamp in the corner I always leave on and turn the tv down if I'm still up.
