hi,

So my tiel made a funny face today (its happened one other time i know of) and it looked like he was choking on his pellets. both times he was eating the harrison pellets. what it looks like is he is trying to swallow and he is focusing on that, his upper beak goes within the lower beak im assuming to open the airway. its very scary, his eyes flutter and close, again like hes focusing or in pain. i dont know what to do for him, i was just praying it will pass and it did shortly after but long enough to make me worry. it was no longer than 30 seconds but i need to know what to be able to do. taking him to a vet would be impossible if hes actually choking as i wouldnt reach the vet in time. is there anything i can do on my end? i offered him water during but he wouldnt drink until he was ok. i figured it would help soften the pellet but that didnt work.

He wasn't choking. Sounds like he was adjusting his crop. Tiels will do this quite frequently and it's normal. Nothing to worry about.
