Loki cant crack open sunflower seeds he can sometimes open them but cant keep them in his beak to eat.And his food bowl always has sunflower seeds left I usually store the sunflower seeds separate for treats but I give them both no more than 5 in their bowl.

I had to make Coco practice for him to learn. I got him literally days after he was weaned so he didn't really have any idea about how to pry open a sunflower seed. I set up a little foraging area for him and scattered a few sunflower seeds around, which instantly interested him and before long he could open them. I opened up a few myself and gave them to him just so he could see what was inside. I think Loki should learn in no time. :)

I have a 15 week old tiel here, sometimes before I give him a sunflower seed I crush it in my fingers to soften the shell... Then give it to him.

Maybe he doesn't like them, then. It's not uncommon for some cockatiels to prefer the smaller seeds over the bigger ones.
