Hi everyone,

My sister always eats celery, and I was wondering can cockatiels eat it?

I have asked on TB if budgies can eat it, and they can, but can cockatiels have it aswell?

They can eat it but celery is mostly water and has very little nutritional value, if your cockatiel like it maybe offer it as an occasional treat.

lol! flicky is a fussy eater aswell not a big fan of anything green

Earl likes Broccoli, and eggs ect. He also likes lettuce but eats very little of it, the rest he rips up into small pieces. But Little Bill eats the lettuce. Yaay!!

P.S Some cockatiels are really fussy!LOL!! :wacko::wacko:

Also be aware that after eating things like celery and lettuce they'll probably have runny poos.

It's on the safe list but has no nutritional value..mostly water.

if one bird can eat it, then it's fine for all birds

I used to be a member of a quaker forum and used to ask questions on it to see what my quaker can eat, and wanted to make sure it was safe for all birds since at the time ijust had quakers and a couple budgies -but i did find out if one type of bird can eat it they all can - which makes it much easier when you've got multiple species

not quite true... we have lorikeets here and you cant give them seed..
Lories are physiologically different than other parrots and are designed to consume a diet of nectar, pollen, fruit, bugs, small lizards and such. Their brush tongue is perfectly suited to the gathering of this nectar and pollen. Their ventriculous, or gizzard, is less muscular than that of other parrots therefore they should not eat the type of hard, dry diet we feed our other parrots.

stuff like budgies, tiels and quakers are all 'parakeet' type parrots, and therefore, what is good for one, is generally good for the other...

If you can get it with the leaves still on they are better for them but they are usually trimmed already here

Good news Earl LIKES CELERY!! YAY! I put it in his cage today and he went straight to it.
But I don't know about Little Bill because I haven't seen him near it. But now it has fell through the grate

P.S We can get celery here, with the leaves on, which was bad, but now Earl & Little BIll can have it!
