I've had a cockatiel in a Prevue Hendryx 16.75 x 17.25 cage from 1995 - 2020 when he passed. 25 years ago knowledge wasn't so much there. Getting a new baby. Different posts show different size suggestions. There are a lot of wonderful cages out there and cages above 22 x 17 give or take are height about 58" which is higher than me so not option. Been told by breeder and cockatiel owner that that is fine size wise. Folks - what size cage do you use?

Hi, I have built a custome cage with areas for food and drink, play and toys and sleeping.
Most offical statments baout cages are that they should be big enogh to allow your bird to stretch their full wings out adn still have room to move. Of course , it depends on the size of area you have available for them and the cage.
My girls have this huge cage but tend to spend a fair amount of time coming and going from it, even though it's open from the moment I get up, until they go to bed.
Is it going to be where they stay inside or, will you be letting them out whenever you can? This is also something you should take into account.
