Well I don't have a tiel yet...but I will be getting one very soon...and one of my bigest questions is CAN COCKATIELS AND BUDGIES LIVE TOGETHER not in the same cage, but you know like in the same room or just close...like will they fight or will they get along???

I think it all depends on your budgies and tiels and there personalities, I personally think they need to be watched closely when out together my female budgie is a big bully and will actually go after my tiels...hehe they can be in the same room just watch them when there out and see how they interact some budgies and tiels get along great and others like mine do not they tolerate each other but at a distance

I will have to see how they all get along...i have three boy budgies...(very friendly)...I am going to keep them all in my room!!!! and watch them when they are out...do you think my tiel will sit on my shoulder???

If it's tame it will probably sit on your shoulder, and your head, and your arm and your leg, where ever you let him..lol.

My older baby already loves to be on my shoulder, tucked into my neck. She can't really hold on very well yet so I don't walk around with her there yet.

No matter how well they seem to get along I wouldn't house them together. Budgies little are high energy and can be quite mean to a tiel just when playing. Mine all have playtime together everyday (out of the cage) but they all have separate cages.

I think as long as you're in the room too when they're out, you shouldn't have to many problems. I have all my guys (3 budgies, 2 tiels) out together every single day. Sometimes i also put them all in one cage and roll their cage onto the back steps for some sun.

I never thought of that! That's a good idea so I don't have to roll all 3 cages outside!

they could go out together if supervised but they will probably not socialize with each other

Spike my cockatiel tries to bite my budgie Icarus when out together so I don't let them play together, Icarus just wants to preen Spike.

I've got 6 budgies and 2 tiels( actually 4 but 2 are still in quaratine) they play together on the play gym and on the floor, all day every day,

They don't bother eachother, there is occasionally a snip from one of the tiels to one of the budgies but never any contact, The tiels sit on one end of the play gym and mind their bussiness and the budgies play ( i actually got video the other day of them all playing)

the only time my tiels get a little snippy is when tweety ( my budgie) does his/her Budgie Slide ( Tweety loves to slide back and forth on a perch any perh and the top perch of the play gym seems to be one of his/ her hot spots

as long as the budgies keep their distance there is no bickering on the play gym - - I haven't seen any bickering at all on the floor

but like what has already been mentioned, Its all about the birds personalities on how well they'll get along

I've heard of several people housing tiels and budgies together and never having a problem.... but in my opioion on that scenario I really think that would work best (if at all) when the budgies and tiels are raised together from the very start as babies, and that still isn't a garauntee

but as long as their play time is monitored with a watchful eye I see no problems

I keep their cages side by side and they do have playtime together although the budgie are pretty much in their own little world.
