Ok, here's where my zillions of questions come into play! :p
I did a quick search not only here, but on Google, but I couldn't see anything on what I needed. (although to be fair, I did just skim through Google =p )
First and foremost, does anybody here cage their tiel(s) with their budgie(s)? Is this a horrible idea, or can they actually get along? My budgie, Attie, is currently only a baby (I'm not sure on her exact age, but I'd guess 5-7 months old) and I plan on finding a young tiel, as well. So after quarentine, could they end up getting along well enough, or will I need a separate cage for my tiel and just let them play together?

Also, I'm extremely confused on how to sex a tiel.. from what I've heard, it's difficult if not impossible to do it visually? I'm completely lost on that subject so any tips there would be a lot of help! My best bet now is that whoever I go to when I get my tiel knows it's sex already :p

One last question I have is regarding my budgie as well. Some days, I'll let her out to explore, and on top of her cage I'll put out something yummy for her (lettuce she adores or something else yummy and healthy), once my tiel gets here and is out of quarentine, would it be alright to allow them to eat together? Or would one of them be territorial and not allow it? Keep in mind, my budgie is very spoiled. She makes a fuss no matter who comes into the room until they pay attention to her and I'd guess she wouldn't be too happy about her Mommy paying attention to some new bird :p At least not for a while.
Ooh, bathing, too.. I usually mist my budgie now (since it's gotten cold) but a while back when it was warm here one day, I put out a water dish and let my budgie splash around in it.. should they have two separate bathing dishes, too? Since it's gotten so much colder, I'll most likely be misting both (lightly, of course and with my heater on) but, as I said in my intro post, I don't wanna get into anything without having the knowledge of it already.
Can't be too prepared, can I? :p

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now, but if anybody has anything to add, feel free to do so! The more I know, the better, the way I see it. Hopefully within the coming months I'll have two spoiled little birds to show off!
TIA, Jes.

Yes, of course. I wouldn't just toss them together and insist they get along lol! But I just wondered if it was completely unheard of or not.. from all the research I've heard so far, it's best with two cages, but ideally, I'd love for them to share a cage, simply because I want them to get along well.

I cage mine together, like nic bike said :p
Anyways.....
I cage my tiel and budgie together and they get along great! Here is a photo when we first put Little Bill(budgie) in with Earl (cockatiel) they were sitting together after about 10 mins :p

People say they don't get along well, but Earl & Little Bill do !

Aw, what a precious sight! See, that's what I want! My budgie and tiel to get along that well.. that'd be perfect.
How'd you do it? Did you sit their cages close and let them play together first or just put them together to see how they took to each other?
I really am sort of hoping you got them to be friends gradually, so that I can do it, too lol!

Well, we had Earl for about a week, then we got Little Bill. We just put Little Bill, straight in the cage! :D They were curious of each other, but then were sitting together :p They prune each other and follow each other around  The only time they have a little peck at each other, is at bed time, when they both want to go on the same swing!

BTW - They were both from the same breeder, and Earl was about 7 weeks old and Little Bill was about 6 ! :p

Although some people choose to it is by no means recommended and rare. Budgies are highly active while tiels are more mellow so PLEASE be prepared to provide them with their own home. My budgies do have playtime/out time with the tiels but some would love to grab the tiels' crest and tails for fun. As far as sexing them it depends on the mutation. Some are easier some are almost impossible.

my tiels and budgies live together they eat together I've got 15 budgies and 10 tiels, they have thier own cages but want to be together

I have enough dishes for all the birds in each of thier cages plus i've got one ontop of the cage that is a 'community" dish, its what we throw veggies, or nuts or left over food that is still good but when refilling the bowls we dump it all in to one bowl if there's any whole pieces left

they all eat out of it at the same time, they all share food/water dishes together at the same time

Yes there is bickering sometimes, but for the most part they live happliy and in harmony

but it is not always the case, you'd have to introduce them in a neutral area and do it slowly and see if your 2 will get along

I definitely wouldn't recommend housing them together, but supervised play time can be lots of fun. :D My guys all come out together every day and play, eat on the play gym, bathe, and just sit around chattering. Out of my three tiels one LOVES the budgies, she would live with them if she could, one dislikes the budgies, he is happy to be near budgies but if one actually approaches him he gets very upset, and one HATES the budgies and will avoid them as best as possible. Having said that one loves them and would live with them, i still wouldn't do it, because budgies have much different personalities to tiels and i can 100% garantee that there would be a fair bit of pestering from the budgies if i tried. The only time mine all share a cage is when i roll them outside for some sun. :)

I would think of having them in separate cages and having them in separate bedrooms, you might get on great with a sibling or friend, but you still want a place to call your own and get some privacy. ;) You can put their cages side by side so they can see and "chat" to each other (but remember, different species can't communicate like same species can, their vocals and body language are different).

Wow, thanks everyone for your comments! First off, a big hello to my fellow TB peeps! :p I recognize a couple of 'yuns!
Secondly, this comment,

-- that makes complete sense! I've called and asked my Dad about it, and he said if he has the money on him that day, then he'll get me a tiel and a seperate cage. If not, then he's going to get me a second budgie and some new toys for them as well :)
Regardless, I'm most likely getting a new bird, tiel or otherwise, and that makes me happy. I'm in love with my little one and I can't wait to add on to my little flock! My only problem with getting another budgie would be if I end up getting a male plus my female.. if they breed!! I'll have problems then, because goodness knows I'll fall in love with each and every one of the chicks and have a house full of birds within no time!

I do wanna thank everyone for commenting so quickly, though, it was really nice of you all and I've learned a whole lot concerning tiels by looking around here so I know if I end up getting one, I'll be prepared if I keep doing my research!
Thanks again, Jes.

If you don't set the conditions they won't breed. I've kept males and females together my whole life. Right now I have 4 girls and 4 boys together.

i have a white lacewing budgie who is sure she is a tiel! but she still will go back to the budgie cage when i come to close the cages up for the night...
