Hey! I'm totally new to these forums, but I've just a couple hours ago gotten a new cockatiel. While viewing them at the breeders, their feathers wear flat, they weren't bobbing when they breathed, and they were fairly active. Now that they're at home they're puffed up and bobbing when breathing, I think it's just the stress of being at a new home, but I really do just want to confirm with someone who may be more experienced with cockatiels than me. They're still a baby, and chirping away, climbing around a little bit too, but they're always very puffed up and bob when they breathe. Could this just be the stress off coming to a new home? Since they weren't acting like this at the breeders, and I can't imagine they would get ill within minutes of arriving at their new home. Poop is normal too, and they're eating and drinking.

I also think that it's from stress. I was also quite concerned when I brought my cockatiel home, and he was active, but his tail was bobbing. His tail stopped bobbing when he warmed up to his new home. I recommend checking out this website that lists more signs of illness.

Thats normal, going to a new home can be very stressful. Give them time to adjust. Their whole world just suddenly changed.
