when I woke up this morning I noticed a few feathers in the bottom of Bowie's cage. then I noticed specks of blood on some of the bars and on the wall behind the cage. I picked up the feathers and both seem to be blood feathers, one has just fallen out and one seems to have been broken. Bowie is his normal noisy angry self (he's chirping at me as I type this) and he doesn't appear to be bleeding any more (he doesn't let me touch him so I can't really get a closer look but there is no blood on the side of his wing I can see) but I'm still very concerned. I'm wondering if he maybe pulled them out himself? or he had a night fright that I somehow managed to not hear and they got knocked out? they were both primary flight feathers. is there anything I can do to prevent this happening again? will he be okay? sorry if I'm being paranoid, I'm just a worried dad.

Sounds like a night fright. As long as there is no active bleeding he will be fine. Do you have a night light in the room at night? I found that having one in my bird room significantly reduced the number of night frights my birds had.
