My bird was perfect yesterday, flying, chirping, eating. He’s only a little over 2 months old. He ate an hibiscus leaf yesterday, that’s the only change. ??? Today he’s lethargic... just wants to sit on my chest. Can they get belly aches???

Is your bird weaned? 2 months are just over 8 weeks , in normal condition, cockatiel is not fully weaned at this age.

The lady I got him from said Parents quit feeding him & he was eating seeds , but would not eat pellets . He’s been perfect up until today 😢 flys , ate, drank, I’m at a loss !
Should I try bird formula ?

He weighs 82 grams , I think he’s not getting enough nutrition, so started bird formula today. He’s eating seed, has refused to eat fruit or veggies, we will keep trying !
He is close to weaning age, but each bird weans differently.
If he takes bird formula, one feed per day is good enough (10- 20 ml) . The rest of time, let him take as much seeds or as he wishes. You can keep his formula schedule until he lost interesting totally, which is fully weaned. You can mix chopped veggies with seeds, he will try them randomly. I don't recommend fruits for cockatiels. Cockatiels already get enough sugar from seeds diet, veggies more suitable.

Ok ... thank you ... he’s doesn’t like formula either. So far he’s getting a tiny bit when he opens beak from my finger or spoon. Praying he will start liking it, if it makes him feel better !

So , should I have let him keep eating hibiscus leaves, he loved them. My worry is it made him sick? Or maybe he was already sick . I’m anxious now, if I let him eat more hibiscus & he gets sicker. I’d never forgive myself😢 Anyone know the answer ? Please & thank you 🙏🏻

He’s refusing formula, & acts like he’s going to aspirate, tried spoon too . He wont even attempt it. I have him fresh broccoli, & some carrots cut in tiny pieces... that was a no as well. He did eat seed out of my hand for half an hour. While we sat in sun ...better than nothing I guess🥺. Hope he pulls through, I’m so attached. I spend most of my day with him, as that’s my work/ craft room .
