Hi All,

I've only just found out from my family that the two adult cockatiels at home have now started a family with two additional babies. One baby cockatiel is 2-3 weeks old while the other is 3-4 weeks.

Before we book in a specialist vet, is it normal for them not to stand up/walk around this age?

Mum has sent me two clips for viewing:

2-3 Weeks Old: Opens in Google Drive

3-4 Weeks Old: Opens in Google Drive

Thanks in advance for the advice/feedback

It looks to me like they have a type of foot problem caused by malnutrition in infancy. What are the parents eating? If it's an all-seed diet, this is inadequate for them and for their babies.

It looks like the feather development of the older baby is behind schedule, which is probably diet related. Chicks should be almost completely feathered out at this age.

Unfortunately the foot problem is usually uncorrectable, but consult your vet - they are still young so there's a possibility that there might still be time to do something about it. Improving the diet immediately will help them catch up on the rest of their development too.
