My dad just got a tiel who had been a breeder and then in a large flight cage with a bunch of other birds. Thus, she isn't super into people and tends to pace around the cage when someone gets too close. Is there any thing we can give her to be less anxious? She has lived with my dad for a couple of months now and has made some progress socializing with the bird, and it will chill after my dad sits next to the cage for a while and talk sweetly. It is still very skittish. Is this just the long trudge toward a bond for them or is there something that could make the tiel feel more comfortable and less anxious?

It's gonna be a long trudge. She's gonna need a lot of patience and time. It's not so much anxiety that's making her pace but fright. She's not used to people so we are scary. Your dad is doing exactly what he should be to make her feel comfortable.
